End of Life Care

At our clinic, we understand that end-of-life care is one of the most emotional and important decisions a pet owner will ever face. Our goal is to provide compassionate guidance, honest support, and dignified care every step of the way - ensuring your pet’s comfort and your peace of mind.

One of the most helpful tools we recommend when assessing your pet’s well-being is the Lap of Love Veterinary Hospice Quality of Life Scale. This resource helps families thoughtfully evaluate factors such as pain, appetite, mobility, hygiene, and overall happiness. While no tool can make the decision for you, it can provide clarity during a very difficult time and help guide meaningful conversations about your pet’s comfort and quality of life.

When the time comes, we are committed to making your pet’s passing as peaceful and gentle as possible. We focus on creating a calm, private environment where you can be present with your pet, surrounded by love and support. Our team takes great care to ensure that every step of the process is handled with sensitivity, respect, and compassion - for both you and your pet.

Following your pet’s passing, we partner with Final Gift Veterinary Services, a trusted provider known for their respectful and dignified aftercare. They offer a range of cremation options and memorial services to honor your pet’s life and the bond you shared. If you would like to learn more about their services, you can visit their website here: https://www.finalgift.com/

Above all, we are here for you. Whether you need help assessing your pet’s quality of life, making difficult decisions, or simply someone to talk to, our team is honored to support you with compassion, empathy, and respect during this deeply personal time.

The Rainbow Bridge

Just this side of heaven is a place called Rainbow Bridge. When an animal dies that has been especially close to someone here, your pet goes to Rainbow Bridge. There are meadows and hills for all of our special friends so they can run and play together. There is plenty of food, water, and sunshine, and friends are warm and comfortable. All the animals who have been ill and old are restored to health and strength, those who were hurt are made better and strong again, like we remember them before they go to heaven. They are happy and content except for one small thing—they each miss someone very special to them who had to be left behind. They all run and play together, but the day comes when one suddenly stops and looks into the distance. His bright eyes are shining, his body shakes. Suddenly he begins to run from the herd, rushing over the grass, his legs carrying him faster and faster, and when you and your special friend finally meet, you cuddle in a happy hug never to be apart again. You and your pet are in tears. Your hands again cuddle his head and you look again into his trusting eyes, so long gone from life, but never absent from your heart, and then you cross the Rainbow Bridge together. ~  Edna Clyne-Rekhy
