    Growing up in Southern Rhode Island, Dr. Fischer was active in 4-H and even worked at Wood River Animal Hospital as a veterinary technician. After receiving an Animal Science degree from The University of Rhode Island in 2010, Dr. Fischer was accepted into the Ross University School of Veterinary Medicine.

    Erin Kelley DVM
    Full Time Veterinarian

    Dr. Kelley grew up in West Kingston and moved to the Richmond area while in college. She graduated with a degree in Animal Science: Pre-Vet from the University of Rhode Island in 2017. During that time, she gained veterinary technical experience at several southern Rhode Island animal hospitals. She attended and graduated Midwestern University in Arizona with a Doctorate of Veterinary Medicine in June 2022. She has a passion for integrative medicine and dentistry, and plans to further her education in these fields in upcoming years.

    Dr. Boy grew up in Southeastern New Hampshire and received a BA in Microbiology and MS in Animal Science from the University of New Hampshire in Durham. She graduated from the University of Pennsylvania School of Veterinary Medicine in 1987, then completed a Large Animal Surgery Internship at Cornell University in 1988, and a Residency in Large Animal Internal Medicine at University of Pennsylvania School of Veterinary Medicine in 1990.

    Veterinary Technician

    Emily has been working at WRAH as a technician since 2017 after completing an internship through Chariho High School. Since then, she has graduated from the University of Rhode Island in 2021 with a bachelors degree in pre-veterinary animal science. Although she wouldn't necessarily consider herself an avid cat person, she does have a deep understanding and appreciation for feline friends. She is a member of the American Association of Feline Practitioners and certified in feline friendly handling. In her free time, Emily tries to spend as much time as she can with her beagle, Luna. She also enjoys spending time at the beach and reading.

    Alex grew up in Southern Rhode Island. She joined Wood River Animal Hospital two years ago after obtaining a bachelors degree in Animal Science from the University of Rhode Island. Alex loves the fast paced environment of working at WRAH.  She is a team player here at the office and is a great communicator with our clients. Alex is passionate about providing the highest quality of care and takes the time to make each patient, as well as their owners, feel as comfortable as possible in a hospital environment! In her spare time, you can find her on the ocean or with her Boston Terrier, Otis.

    Veterinary Technician

    Working with and helping animals has always been a dream of Chelsea's but it wasn't until the pandemic that she decided to make her dream a reality. She went back to school, attending the Animal Behavior College, to become a Certified Veterinary Assistant and plans to continue her education in veterinary technology, specializing in animal behavior because she believes every animal deserves to be understood. Working in this field has brought her so much joy and made her a better pet mom to her cat, Buca and her dogs; Farrah and Alvie.

    Animals have always been a big part of Emily's life, she was the little girl who would always say she wanted to be a vet when she grew up. Growing up in a small town in Connecticut made it feel impossible, but she started her career in vet med in Buffalo New York while in school at D’Youville University. Later to find herself back in her hometown, she continued to study science and veterinary technology in hopes to go to vet school one day. She has two of her own dogs; Lanny, a Great Pyrenees Mix, and Denali, a German Shepherd- one of which is constantly teaching her new things everyday and has influenced her interest in neurology and internal medicine. WRAH has opened so many new experiences for her including finding her secret love for surgery that she never knew she had!

    Angelina is a dedicated veterinary technician, from Connecticut, where her passion for animals blossomed. With nine years of experience in various states under her belt, she's nurtured her skills and compassion in caring for furry friends. At home, she's surrounded by a lively bunch - five cats, a guinea pig, and a charming miniature dachshund named Kore. Angelina's next step? Licensing and specializing in dentistry, aiming to ensure every pet has a healthy smile!

    Veterinary Technician

    Mady grew up on a farm in Northern Rhode Island, and graduated from URI in 2023 with a degree in Biological Sciences. While studying, she became a dog walker and pet sitter and decided to join our team to gain more knowledge and experience in animal care. Mady recently started working with a wildlife rehabilitation center, which reignited her passion for caring for wildlife and the natural world. Her next step is to travel the US in a van and gain more experience through volunteering, and later down the road she hopes to pursue conservation projects in places she’s visited such as Nicaragua. In her free time, Mady enjoys yoga, practicing herbal medicine and spending time with her dog Sebastian and cat Clam!

    Mia grew up in 4H and trained and showed dogs throughout her childhood. She graduated from URI with her degree in Animal Science in 2022. She now trains and shows dogs professionally in AKC breed shows, and shows her own Ibizan Hounds in conformation shows, obedience, agility, and lure coursing trials. She hopes to consider applying to vet school soon. When not working, training, or showing dogs, she enjoys hiking and photography!

    Lead Veterinary Receptionist

    Ashley graduated with a degree in Psychology in 2017, and after years of helping people she decided on a career change to primarily help animals. Ashley grew up with several cats, and now has a cat Diego and a black Labrador named Casey. Ashley mainly works in reception but is fascinated with the hands-on role of being a Veterinary Technician so recently began training there, with plans to pursue an additional degree in Veterinary Science.

    Marlayna loves nothing more than to be spending time with Maximus, her German Rottweiler, in the sun! In the coming months she plans to start studying Veterinary Technology. Growing up in the small town of Voluntown, CT, her exposure to wildlife and animals have provoked some big dreams! Since she was a little girl she has dreamt of becoming a livestock veterinarian. Marlayna enjoys going fishing, hiking, and sticking her toes in the sand at any beach she can find!

In 2023, she graduated from Unity Environmental University with a Masters in Marine Science: Marine Mammal Conservation. Interested in animals both on land and at sea, she hopes one day to have a career working on marine mammal rescue, rehabilitation, and release programs as she believes all animals deserve the opportunity to be treated and cared for! Alex loves her time at WRAH and the opportunities to continue learning every day. Outside of the office, you can find her camping or line dancing at the Mishnock Barn!
