Since 1992, Wood River Animal Hospital has been proud to be a part of the South County, Rhode Island community. What began as a small-town veterinary practice has grown into a trusted local resource for generations of families and their pets, but our roots have never changed. We are honored to have built lasting relationships with our clients and to have cared for so many beloved pets throughout their lives. We believe that strong communities are built on connection, compassion, and support, and we strive to reflect those values in everything we do. Whether it’s providing quality veterinary care, being there in times of need, or simply offering a familiar, friendly face, we are proud to be a place our neighbors can rely on.
We are also committed to supporting our community beyond our hospital walls. Our team regularly assists during local emergencies involving animals, donates time and services to annual rabies vaccination clinics, and works closely with our local K-9 police units, animal control officers, and rescue organizations to help animals in need. These partnerships allow us to play an active role in keeping both pets and people safe while supporting those who dedicate their work to animal welfare. We are especially proud to be a part of the Purple Leash Project, a national initiative focused on supporting survivors of domestic violence by helping ensure pets are not a barrier to safety. The Purple Leash Project works to increase pet-friendly domestic violence shelters, recognizing the powerful bond between people and their pets. By supporting this initiative, we stand with efforts that help keep families - both human and animal - safe together during times of crisis.
